Andy Glitre Dies: Triple J Presenter, Pioneering DJ Passes Away At 64

Australian DJ and radio host Andy Glitre has died at the age of 64.

The British-born former Triple J presenter is best known for introducing Australians to a range of funk, soul and 바카라사이트 dance music in the 1980s and '90s.

Widely considered one of the most influential DJs of his generation, Glitre was known for hosting The Rhythm Method and Groove Train on Triple J.

He was later a presenter for Melbourne's Kiss FM. 

His radio career coincided with his DJ sets at RAT Parties, a notable series of large dance parties held in Sydney in the '80s and early '90s.

He also famously hosted Sydney's RESPECT club night at The Freezer (later known as Goodbar) for five years.

Fans of the nightclub icon have shared their condolences on Facebook on Twitter.

Comedian and radio presenter Adam Spencer, who was a Triple J host from the late 1990s to early 2000s, said Andy was a 'truly great force in Australian radio and the dance music scene.

Jane Gazzo, a former Triple M presenter and host of The Sound, added that Andy's death was 'very sad news', describing him as a 'proper music broadcaster buoyed by his love of dance, rave and beats'.

Former Triple J executive producer Craig Donarski said Andy was 'unbelievably passionate about the music he loved'. 

Mr Donarski also elaborated on his important role in bringing dance and soul music to Australia and introducing listeners to new artists. 

'He loved movers and groovers from all around the world, at a time when that wasn't even a vaguely fashionable thing,' he said.

'He didn't care, he just loved what he considered great music.'
